When we first met Smoke, she was heavily pregnant, desperately searching for a safe place to give birth. Unfortunately, the little market where she sought refuge was anything but welcoming—people threatened to harm her or abandon her far away. Knowing she deserved a chance to bring her babies into the world in peace, we stepped in to give her the safety and care she needed.
