Among the endless posts on Facebook, one caught our eye—a plea for help. Husnu, a beloved cat, had lost his person. The elderly woman who had cherished him passed away quietly, leaving behind not just memories, but a loyal companion with nowhere to go.
Her daughters, too preoccupied with fighting over their inheritance, had no interest in taking him in. The only thing left of their mother’s love was cast aside. A concerned neighbor made the post, but when we called, her response was disheartening: “It’s too late. He’s been put out on the street.”
But Husnu didn’t go far. He lingered by the apartment building, desperately trying to go back inside, searching for the only home he had ever known. His presence annoyed the neighbors. They wanted him gone—sent to a shelter, a place that, for a cat like him, would mean inevitable sickness and death.
We couldn’t let that happen. We found him, but he was heartbroken. People who say cats don’t grieve don’t know how to listen. If you pay attention, they tell you everything. Husnu’s world had crumbled, and he felt every bit of it.
Then, finally, a glimmer of hope… A kind couple in Switzerland heard his silent cry and opened their hearts to him. Today, Husnu is living happily with them in Geneva, safe and loved once again.
Knowing that he has found joy in this new chapter of his life, and that somewhere, his old guardian can finally rest in peace, we, too, feel at peace.
